Chattanooga-Miami nonstop flights to return in June

Nonstop flights between Chattanooga Airport and Miami will restart in June as the American Airlines service seeks to bring new opportunities for leisure and business travelers, according to an airport official.

Terry Hart, Chattanooga Airport's president and chief executive, said plans are for the nonstops to start June 3 to Miami International Airport.

He said in a statement that American will offer only Saturday service. Flights will leave Chattanooga at 7 a.m. and arrive in Miami at 9:15 a.m. Return flights will depart Miami at 7:35 p.m. and land in Chattanooga at 9:55 p.m., according to Hart.

"Through listening to the needs and wishes of passengers, the Chattanooga Airport was able to work together with our partner, American Airlines, to return the nonstop service to Miami," he said, "We're just as excited as passengers to have this flight return and for the opportunities, it brings for vacation and business."

The Chattanooga-Miami flights had stopped last August.

According to the airport, passengers can connect in Miami to more than 60 international destinations across Central America, the Caribbean, and Latin America.

Also, the service from Chattanooga will provide easy access to PortMiami – which calls itself "the cruise capital of the world" – for both vacation cruising and business.

Philippe Puech, American Airlines' director of short-haul network planning, said in a statement that the flight will complement its existing service from Chattanooga to Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth and Washington D.C.

"We are thrilled to offer customers more ways to experience scenic Chattanooga and provide local residents with additional access to American's global network," he said.

With the return of the Miami service, the Chattanooga Airport will offer nonstop service to nine cities.
